Committed to a Growth Mindset

Teaching Philosophy

As a life-long educator and learner who specializes in multiple-subjects and statistics, I help students navigate a data driven world by building a strong math foundation. I especially enjoy creating lesson plans based on Common Core standards and activities that help students reach individualized learning objectives scaffolded with as many big or small steps as they need. My goal is to build confidence and encourage students from diverse backgrounds to develop solid foundations in education. The foundational aspects of a positive, productive classroom are building strong connections and relationships with each other, cultivating a strong sense of community, maintaining structure and routine, believing in fairness and accountability, and accommodating different learning modalities.

I see the classroom as a large, unsolved puzzle where all students have different strengths and means to achieve learning objectives. A foundation of a great classroom environment also starts off with procedures, routines, and a safe place for practice. I find incredible joy when I see all the pieces of the puzzles finally click, and then the class functions like clockwork. It’s my role to support building confidence and ensuring students have an arsenal of positive experiences in learning. The whole process may not always be pretty, easy, or smooth, but at the end, both students and teacher come away from the process with growth and progress towards self-actualization.
